Term | Definition |

Claim | Statement that answers the original statement or purpose. |
Evidence | The available body of facts or information indicating weather a belief or preposition is true or valid. |
Reasoning | The action of thinking about something in a logical, sensible way. |
Science | A system of knowledge and the methods you use to find that knowledge. |
Manipulated variable | The variable that the scientist changed during and experiment. |
Responding variable | The variable i an experiment that changes as a result of changes to the manipulated variable. |
Control | Things that DO NOT change in an experiment. |
Graph | A diagram showing the relation between variable quantities, typically of two variables, each measured along one of a pair of axes of right angles. |
Data | Facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis. |
Weight | The force of gravity acting on an object. |
Water displacement | When an object enters water, it pushes out water to make room for itself. The object pushes out a volume of water that is equal to its own volume. |
Volume | The amount of space taken up by an object. |
Mass | The amount of matter in an object; a measure of the interior of an object, which depends on the amount of matter the object contains. |
Density | The ratio of a material's mass to its volume. |
Metric system | The decimal measuring system based on the meter, liter, and gram as units of length, capacity, and weight of mass. |
