Matter - Part 1

TermDefinition
Atom The smallest part of an element that still has the properties of the element
Atomic Theory The idea that everything is made up of small particles
Compounds When matter is made up of two or more elements
Molecule The smallest particle of a compound
Temperature Measure of how fast a particle is moving
Mass The amount of space an object takes up
Solid A form of matter that has a definite volume but does not have a definite shape
Gas A form of matter that does not have a definite shape or a definite volume
Physical Change A change in some properties of matter that does not form a different kind of matter
