| Pelting | to be hit hard by something |
| Squall | a sudden and/or violent storm |
| Keen | very happy or excited about something |
| Course | a path or route taken by a ship |
| Companionway | a doorway that leads to steps that takes you below deck on a boat/ship |
| Below deck | the lower level of boat/ship. This is where the living area and bedrooms can be found |
| Conserve | to save for later |
| Nautical | having to do with sailing or being on the ocean |
| Ballooned | to get bigger |
| Bunk | a type of bed where there is one on the bottom that is connected to one on the top |
| Harness | a device that holds someone in place |
| Pacific | refers to the Pacific Ocean. The largest ocean in the world |
| Unfazed | not botherd by or has no effect on |
| Hunkering | to take shelter |
| Cockpit | the area of a boat or airplane where the captain steers it |
| Mainsail | the largest sail on a sailboat |
| Navigation | tells you where you are and helps you find where you want to go |
| Causally | acting normal eventhough you may be scared or nervous |
| Adrenaline | made in your body to provide strength during times of stress or fear |
| deteriorating | to get worse over time |
| Mast | a tall post on a sailboat where the sail connects |
| Suspended | to be held in the air by something supporting you |
| Brainiac | someone who is smart and wants to learn more |
| Scudding | to move fast in a straight line on the water because of the wind |
| Cooped up | to be kept inside a small space for a long period of time |
| Conditions | what it feels like at a certain location |
| Cleats | a wood or metal area used to tie things to the boat |
| Churning | rough and bumpy water |
| Resurface | to come back up after being down somewhere |
| Banister | a railing on the side of a boat/ship |
| Grasping | grabbing or holding on to something tightly |
| Downpour | a very heavy rainstorm that produces a lot of water in a little amount of time |
| Struggling | difficult or hard to do something |
| Galley | the kitchen area a boat/ship usally found below deck |
| SOS | "Save our Ship" it's a signal to say that a boat/ship is in trouble on the water |
| Headlamp | a light that attached a band that is worn on your head |
