Sensation and Perception

what is sensation? the activation of receptors in the various sense organs
what are sensory receptors? specialized form of neutrons
just noticeable difference the smallest difference between two stimuli that is detectable
absolute threshold the smallest amount of energy needed for a person to detect
subliminal stimuli stimuli that are below the level of conscious awareness, just strong enough for people to notice
habituation (subliminal perception) tendency of the brain to stop attending to constant and unchanging information, senses turn it off
subliminal perception process by why the subliminal stimuli act upon the unconscious mind, influencing behavior, habitation and sensory adaptation
sensory adaptation tendency of the sensory receptor cells to become less responsive to a stimulus that is unchanging, brain turns off
cornea clear membrane that covers the surface of the eyem protects the eye, focuses on light coming in
