Balanced and Unbalanced Forces Vocabulary Words
| Term | Definition |

| Force | A push or pull on an object that may change motion of the object. |
| Balanced Forces | Forces on all sides are equal Net Force=Zero An object's motion will NOT change! |
| Unbalanced Forces | Forces are NOT equal Net Force doe NOT equal Zero An object's motion WILL change! |
| Inertia | An object's tendency to resist a change in motion. |
| Newton (N) | The unit for force. |
| Gravity | A force that pulls all object's that have mass toward one another. |
| Speed | The distance an object travels per unit of time. Example: 55 mph (miles per hour) |
| Velocity | Speed in a given direction Example: 55mph North |
| Direction | How an object has traveled. |
| Motion | Any change in the location of an object. |
| Resistance | Frictional force against a moving object. |
| Net Force | The overall force on an object |
| Applied Force | Force which is applied to an object by another object. |
