attract | move closer; pull; stick together |
gas | a state of matter that takes the shape of the container; can not feel it |
magnet | an object that attracts (pulls) iron; can push (repel) or pull (attract) other objects |
liquid | a state of matter that takes the shape of the container; can be poured; can be felt |
mass | the amount of matter (stuff) in something; how much an object weighs |
magnetic | an object attracted by a magnet |
solid | a state of matter that has a definite shape; keeps its own shape |
matter | anything that has mass and takes up space |
magnetism | an attracting or repelling force that causes a magnetic material to move; Does the object has iron in it? |
physical properties | characteristic that can be observed or measured; describe; tells about |
repel | move away; push back by force |
States of matter | the forms matter can take, such as solid, liquid, and gas |
nonmagnetic | not attracted to a magnet; does not have iron in an object |
temperature | a tool to measure how hot or cold something is; measured in Fahrenheit (F) and Celsius (C) |
celcius | an international unit of measurement for temperature |
