| Matter | all substances of the universe that can be seen, touched, or measured |
| Atom | the most basic unit of matter; a collection of charged particles |
| Electron | negatively charged particle/orbits around the outside of the atom/main carrier of electricity in solids |
| Proton | positively charged particle/found in the nucleus of each atom |
| Neutron | particle without an electric charge/NO CHARGE/NEUTRAL/found in the nucleus of each atom |
| Molecule | a group of atoms bonded together/can be broken down into individual atoms. |
| Element | 1 of 2 types of molecules; made up of atoms of the same type/a pure, simple chemical substance that has only one kind of atom. |
| Periodic Table of Elements | table displaying all of the chemical elements |
| Compound | 1 of 2 types of molecules; made up of atoms of the different types/composed of two or more separate elements |
