Prostaglandin Inhibitor | Synthetic non-opiate analgesic |
Salicylates | Most common analgesics used for relief of moderate pain, does not alter sedation level |
NSAIDs | Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs |
Naproxen | NSAID Give with food, pain assessment before and after administration, risk for GI bleed |
Naloxone | Antagonist Give for someone who is having respiratory distress or overdose of opiate, fast- acting |
ASA | Salicylates Increased risk of bleeding (GI or Stroke), does not alter sedation level for patient, should NOT be given with anticoagulants |
Morphine | Agonist Can cause nausea and vomiting, respiratory depression, check on patient often after administration |
Methadone | Partial Agonist Treatment choice for opioid withdrawal programs |
Tramadol | Partial Agonist May alter level of consciousness |
Celebrex | NSAIDs Give with food, pain assessments, risk for GI bleeds |
Acetaminophen | Prostaglandin Inhibitor Causes gastric irritation, antipyretic, hepatoxicity 4g MAX/24 hours |
