Democracy A system of government where power is vested in the people who may exercise it directly or through elected representatives
Australian democracy A system of government grounded in liberal democratic values and a belief in civic engagement
Representative democracy A system of government in which electors choose representatives to act on their behalf
Direct Democracy All people vote on policies and laws
Active citizenship Engagement and informed participation in the civic and political activities of society
Local Representative Local Member of Parliament in an electorate
Protesting The expression of disapproval of, or objection to, something
Petition A request by a group of citizens for Parliament to take action to solve a particular problem
Social media campaign Use of social media to make people aware of an issue
CRAAP test Evaluates sources for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy and Purpose
Member of Parliament (MP) A member of a House of Parliament who represents members of their electorate
