Fungi yeasts or molds - plant like microoganisms found in soil, air and contaminated foods
Mycotic infection fungal infection that cause itching, blisters, broken skin between toes, scaling patches on skin
Anti-fungals spectrum selective spectrum of activity
Fungicidal kills fungi, usually systemic acting drugs
Fungistatic prevents fungal growth
Amphortericin B - M.O.A binds to fungal membrane producing a change in the cell's permeability causing nutrients & ions to leak out leading to cell death
Griseofulvin - M.O.A binds to infected keratinized tissue preventing the fungus from invading the healthy tissue
