X-ray position and projections
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Decubitus radiographic position | Recumbent with CR parallel to the floor |
| Lateral radiographic position | Body or body part is placed with sagittal plane parallel to floor |
| Radiographic projection | Path of CR from tube and through pt to IR |
| Radiographic position | Placement of body part in relation to IR |
| Anteroposterior (AP) | CR enters anterior surface and exits the posterior |
| Posteroanterior (PA) | CR enters posterior surface and exits the anterior |
| Lateral projection | Sagittal plane of the body or body part is parallel to IR |
| Oblique projection | Body is rotated so the CR travels through body on oblique plane |
| Axial projection | Longitudinal angulation of the CR 10 degrees or more |
| Tangential projection (sunrise) | CR skims the profile |
