Literary Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Plain Folks | Propagandist tries to convince us that their ideas are "of the people"/just like plain folks. |
| Ethos | An appeal or persuasion that deals with credibility of the speaker. |
| Foreshadowing | Literary technique where clues are dropped to alert the reader to something important that will happen in the story later on. |
| Bandwagon | Propaganda technique that appeals to our need to join and belong in a group. |
| Syntax | Word order (sentence order) |
| Diction | Word choice (dictionary) |
| Pathos | emotional appeal to the audience |
| Third person Omniscient | point of view where narrator is all knowing |
| Third person Limited | point of view where narrator is removed from the whole story and only focuses on one or more characters. |
| Glittering generalities | Propaganda technique that uses virtue (glitter) words. |
| Pun | humorous technique with double meaning words |
| Imagery | language that appeals to the senses |
| Logos | an appeal to logic |
| Metaphor | direct comparison between two unrelated objects/ideas |
| Allegory | a story where characters and events are symbolic of something figuratively. |
