ELA

TermDefinition
Text Feature Special parts of a text that give additional information or help locate information (example: captions, diagrams, glossary)
Key Detail or Supporting Detail An important fact, example, or other piece of information in a text that helps explain a main idea.
Context Clues Words, phrases or sentences around an unknown word in a text that helps determine the meaning of a word. (Example: synonyms, antonyms, examples, or definitions)
Cause and Effect A text organization that tells about events and explains why they happen. (Example: boy blows up the balloon too much, so the balloon burst)
Point of View The way we think or feel about something. It is personal and may be different from the narrator
