| Fissure Eruption | eruptions that occur on divergent plate boundaries where a fissure has formed in the earth's crust. Magma forces its way of through the crust and erupts as a curtain of fire |
| Central vent Eruption | eruptions that occur from a vent in the earth's surface, usually at a convergent plate boundary |
| Hot spot eruptions | occur when a plume of lava rises near the earths crust, it eventually breaks through the earths crust like a blow torch. eg) tha Hawaiian Islands |
