Research to Craft an Argument

TermDefinition
1. Abbreviation a shortened form of words or phrases that usually requires a period at the end
2. Acronym — a type of abbreviation formed from the first letter of multiple words that does not require periods after each letter and is pronounced as a new word (ex. FBI)
3. Anecdote a short amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person
4. Argument a position on a topic or issue developed through logic, evidence, and appeals
5. Argumentative text a text in which the writer develops and defends a position or debates a topic using logic and persuasion
6. Audience the intended target group for a message
7. Bibliographic information a descriptive list of sources used in preparing a written work (essay)
8. Claim to say something is true when some people may say it is not
9. Correspondence any written or digital communication exchanged between two or more people in the form of a letter, e-mail, fax, etc.
10. Credibility the quality of being believable or worthy of trust
