MIC lowest concentration of antibiotic that ihibits bacterial growth after 18-24 hours
MBC - minimum bactericidal concentration lowest concentration that totaly suppresses growth and kills 99.9% of bacteria usually higher than the MIC
C-max maximum antibiotic concentration in the plasma produced by the dose, should be 5-10x the MIC
AUC measure of drug exposed to antibiotic bactericidal activity
post-antibiotic effect period of time with persisten supression of bacterial growth following exposure to antibiotic, despite removal of antibiotic, only clinically significant with concentration dependent antibiotics
