Radioactivity the process in which an unstable nucleus gives off nuclear radiation
Mass Number sum of the #s of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom
Isotope an atom that has the same # of protons as other atoms of that same element but different # of neutrons
Half-life time needed for half of a radioactive substance sample to undergo radioactice decay
Nuclear Fission the splitting of a large atom into smaller pieces or fragments, (releases additional energy and nuetrons)
Nuclear Fusion the combo. of small nuclei to form a larger nucleus
Nuclear Chain Reaction a continuous series of nuclear fission reactions
