Aesop's Fables

Aesop Fables A group of stories that were written by Aesop, a Greek storyteller. The main characters in these stories are animals, and each story demonstrates a moral lesson.
greek myth Greek mythology is the body of myths originally told by the ancient Greeks, and a genre of Ancient Greek folklore.
moral A lesson, usually representing what is right and/or wrong, that are derived from a story, a piece of information, or an experience.
myth A traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of people or explaining natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.
storytelling The clear description of ideas, beliefs, personal experiences, and life- lessons through stories or narratives that give off powerful emotions or insights.
fiction A type of book or story that is written about imaginary characters and events and not based on real people and facts.
fairy tale A traditional story, usually written for children, which often involves imaginary creatures and magic
folktale A traditional story that people of a particular region or group tell and/or hand down to others and their kin.
greek gods A god or goddess from the ancient Greeks myths and beliefs.
latin literature Most fables are in Latin and adapted as needed so that each fable is 120 words in length at most. Greek fables appear in Latin translation, and there are various other fables in Latin translation.
allegory A story, play, poem, picture, fable, or other writing in which the characters and events represent particular situations or ideas that relate to morals, religion, or beliefs.
lore Traditions and knowledge on a subject or held by a particular group, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.
legend A story or set of stories from ancient times, or the stories, not always true, that people tell about a famous event or person.
precept A rule for action or behavior, especially obtained through a moral thought.
apologue A moral fable, especially with animals as characters.
parable A short, simple story that teaches or explains an idea, especially a moral or religious idea.
proverb A short statement, usually known by many people for a long time, that gives advice, teaches a lesson, or expresses common truth.
