| Author | a person who composes a text (informational or literary |
| Author's Argument | words presented by the author with the aim of persuading thought or action (includes a claim, counterclaim, reasons, and evidence) |
| Author's Purpose | the author's reason for composing a text |
| Cause | the reason or motive for an action |
| Chapter | a main division of a book |
| Claim | an assertion to the truth of something, typically one that is disputed or in doubt |
| Chronology | the order in which events occur (using time) |
| Concept | an idea, especially an abstract idea |
| Connection | a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else |
| Describe | to present or give an account in words |
| Determine | to conclude or ascertain after reasoning |
| Develop | the process of growing and becoming more mature, advanced, or elaborate |
| Effect | a result; consequence |
| Idea | a thought, plan of action, opinion |

| Information | facts provided or learned about something or someone |
