high school vocab

TermDefinition
Credit What a student earns for completing/ passing a class. Students receive 1 credit for a course that lasts all year, 1/2 credit for a semester long class. I have a good credit in Science.
Course Another word for class. I am struggling in my math course.
Diploma Certificate that represents completion of a program of study. I graduated high school and got my diploma last year.
Elective A course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are interested in the class. Art class is one of my electives.
Graduation Requirements Standards that must be met in order to receive diploma. I met my graduation requirements and got my diploma.
Advanced placement classes Accelerated and more challenging classes. I was put in advanced placement classes.
Freshman (9th grade year) How you are classified in high school. I am a freshmen.
Sophomore 10th grade year. I am going to be a sophomore soon.
Junior 11th grade year. After 10th grade I will be a Junior.
Senior 12th grade After my senior year I will be done with high school.
Prerequisite A course that is required before another course can be taken. Career Development was my prerequisite
Smart Core Arkansas's college and career ready curriculum for high school students. I learned to be ready for college and career during smart core.
GPA Grading system that represents that averages your grades to determine how well you performed in all your classes. I had a good GPA in high school.
Transcript Complete representation of a student's academic record. (official grades) My transcript looked great and satisfied my parents.
