Term | Definition |
---|---|
credit | What a student earns for completing/passing a class. Students receive 1 credit for a course that last all year, 1/2 credit for a semester long class. You lose the credit if you fail a class |
Course | Another word for class. I have to take 5 courses |
Diploma | certificate that represents completion of a program of study. Once you finish high school, you receive a diploma |
Elective | a course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are interested in the class. I get to chose 2 electives |
Graduation Requirements | Standards that must be met in order to receive a diploma Are Graduation Requirements are set to high this year. |
Advanced Placement Classes | accelerated and more challenging classes. I have all accelerated classes except history |
Freshmen | 9th grade year... how you are classified in high school. I have a cousin that is a Fresmen |
Sophomore | 10th grade year In 2 years I will be a sophomore |
Juniors | 11th grade Sophomores only have 1 year left of high school. |
Seniors | 12th grade Seniors only have that year left of school. |
Prerequisite | a course that is required before another course can be taken. I have to take some Prerequisite classes before I can complete the subject. |
Smart Core | Arkansas's college and career ready curriculum for high school students, I have to fix my Smart Core before I finish high school. |
GPA | Grading system that represents that average your grades to determine how well your performed in all your classes. I have to keep up with my GPA if I want to get scholarships |
Transcript | complete representation of a student's academic record(Official Grade) I have to keep up with my transcript. |
