High school vocab

TermDefinition
Credit What a student earns for completing/passing a class. Students recieve 1 credit for a course that lasts all year, 1/2 credit for a semester long class. I need 1 full credit finish PE, but i've only done 1/2 of a semester.
Course Another word for class. Most of my course is based on science.
Diploma Certificate that represents completion of a program of study. I got handed my diploma and then I graduated high school.
Elective a course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are intrested in the class. One of my elective classes is journalism.
Graduation Requirements Standards that must be met in order to receive a diploma. I have to reach all my Graduation Requirements before getting my diploma.
Advanced placement classes accelerated and more challenging classes. Me being in advanced placement classes caused me to be graded differently.
Freshman 9th grade year .... how you are classified in high school. Freshman year is your first year in high school.
Sophomore 10th grade year Sophomore year is your 2nd year in high school.
Junior 11th grade year Junior year is your 3rd year in high school.
Senior 12th grade year Senior year is your last year in high school.
Prerequisite a course that is required before another course can be taken. I have to complete Spanish one to move to Spanish 2.
Smart core Arkansas's college and career ready curriculum for high school students. Smart core is really useful for high school students that want to go to college.
GPA Grading system that represents the averages your grades to determine how well you you preformed in all your classes. My gpa wasn't high enough to enter the college I wanted to.
Transcript Complete representation of students academic record. (Official grades) My transcript holds all my grades from the beggining to the end of high school.
