| What is Nasoentric tubes? | Aspiration of gas and fluid from intestinal tract after surgery. |
| What is Urinary Catheters? | Used for the drainage and collection of urine; may be used to allow healing of surrounding tissues or to deliver medicaitons or irrigate bladder. |
| What is Nasogastric tube? | Used for feeding or gastric suction. |
| What is Tracheostomy? | Opening into the airway with a tube in place; may be connected to vent. |
| What is closed chest drainage? | Used to remove fluid or gastric or free air from pleural cavity; if disconnected abruptly, lung collapse may result. |
| What is Tracheotomy? | Surgical opening into trachea, must suction occasionally. |
| What is Swan ganz catheter? | Situated in right side of heart for monitoring of heart function and blood flow. |
| What is Orthopedic traction? | Uses weights for therapeutic reasons; usually for long bones or spine inquires; don't move weights. |
| What are Vasodilators used for? | To relax the walls of blood vessels, permitting a greater flow of blood. |
| What are examples of anticoagulats? | Heparin and warfarin |
| What are Barbiturates used for ? | Depress the central nervous system, respirations, and blood pressure; induce sleep |
