| Albedo | The amount of solar energy reflected back into the Earths atmosphere |
| Vulnerability | The degrees of how humans and natural systems can cope with climate change |
| Mitigation | Attempts to reduce causes of climate change |
| Anthropogenic | Human-related proccesses/impacts |
| Resilience | Ability of a population/natural system to absorb change |
| Global warming | The increase in temperatures around the world, taken into account since the 1960s |
| The greenhouse effect | When gasses such as carbon dioxide and methane allow short-wave radiation to pass through the atmosphere . However traps long-wave radiation leading to the warming of the Earth. |
| The enhanced greenhouse effect | The increasing amount of trapped greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere as a result of human actvitites, including global warming. |
