Valence Shell Outermost shell of an atom
Atomic Mass Number of protons plus the number of neutrons
Conductivity ability for heat/electricity to flow through
Neutron part of an atom with a neutral charge. resides in the nucleus.
Electron part of an atom with a negative charge. orbits the nucleus of an atom.
Malleable ability to be flattened
Ductile ability to be stretched but not break, NOT BRITTLE
Proton part of an atom with a positive charge. resides in the nucleus.
Luster ability to reflect light
Reactive causes a chemical reaction and releases energy
Group (Family) Known as groups or families, columns on the table (go up and down); Elements in a group have the same number of electrons in the outer level.
Period Rows on the table (side to side); Each row represents the number of energy levels.
