Term | Definition |

menu bar | Found under the Title Bar. Contains items that you can click to make choices in a program. |
title bar | At the top of a window. Displays the name of the document and program (or the folder name if you're working in a folder). |
minimize | Button has an “ -- “. When you click, it makes a window disappear from the desktop. The window will then only be visible only as a button on the taskbar. |
maximize | Button has one square on it. When you click, it makes the window take up the entire screen. |
close | Button has an “x” . When you click, it removes a window from the desktop and taskbar. |
restore | Button has two squares on it, it is in place of the Maximize button when you have made the window full size. This button will return it to its previous size before you maximized it. |
borders and corners | Drag these with your mouse pointer to change the size of the window. |
scroll bar | Found on the side or bottom of a window and lets you see information that is currently out of view. |
active window | A window that you're currently working in, it could be maximized or minimized. |
dialogue box | A special window that asks you a question, allows you to select options to perform a task, or provides you with information. |
navigation pane | The pane on the left side that helps you access folders, saved searches, and even entire hard disks. |
Library pane | The pane on the right that displays the contents of a drive or folder. |
details plane | The pane at the bottom of the window that’s shows the most common properties associated with the selected file |
assignment drive | Where you save documents to your Teacher’s Folder to turn in assignments |
template drive | Where your teacher can create a folder for you to access documents, pictures, files and links to websites. |
documents | Where you save any work that you have created |
