High School Vocab

TermDefinition
Credit What a student earns for completing / passing a class.
Course Another word for 'class'.
Diploma Certificate that represents completion of a program of study.
Elective A course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are interested in the class.
Graduation Requirements Standards that must be met in order to receive a diploma.
Advanced Placement Classes Accelerated and more challenging classes.
Freshman 9th Grade year; how you are classified in High School.
Sophomore 10th Grade.
Junior 11th Grade.
Senior 12th Grade.
Prerequisite A course that is required before another course can be taken.
Smart Core Arkansas' college and career ready curriculum for High School students.
GPA Grading system that represents the averages of your grades to show how well you performed in all your classes.
