High School Vocab

TermDefinition
Credit What a student earns for completing/passing a class. Student receive 1 credit for a course that last all year, 1/2 credit for a semester long class.
Course Another word for class
Diploma Certificate that represents completion of a program of study
Elective A course that is not required but can be chosen by students if they are interested in the class.
Graduation Requirements standards that must be met in order to receive a diploma.
Advanced Placement Classes Accelerated and more challenging classes.
Freshmen 9th grade
Sophomore 10th grade
Junior 11th grade
Senior 12th grade
Prerequisite A course that is required before another course can be taken
Smart Core Arkansas's college and career ready curriculum for high school students.
GPA Grading system that represents that averages your grades to determine how well your performed in all your classes.
