literary terms

QuestionAnswer
Second person the narrator is not in the story and is specfically speaking to reader. ex Baking instructions
Third person limited narrator is not character ex. person videoing their self
Third person omniscient the narrator is not a character in the story and know what all of the characters think. ex. hoping something will go good.
Paraphrasing rewritten in own words ex. I can't, cai'nt (is this a good example Jaden?)
Summarizing with longer story making it shorter ex. only says key details
Pun play word on sound or two ex. The Suite Life of Zach and Cody
Satire ridicul, shaming, government improvement ex. political cartoon
Setting where and when story is ex. Little mermaid is set under the sea
Simile comparison between two unlikely things using oras ex. Tall as giraffe (is this right JAden)
Style a manner of writing style includes a writers word choice or dictation and sentence structure. ex. way the Author writes
Symbolism a person, place, object or activity that stands for something besides itself. ex. nike check
Textual evidence evidence from were you got the answer from has to be in quotations.
Theme a message about life or human nature that the writer shares with the reader. ex. What its about
Tone The writers attitude toward his/her own subject
