| Mood | the feeling or atmosphere that a writer creates for the reader ex. what the author explains about a place |
| Narrator | the voice that tell you the story ex. Grandma told me a story |
| Onomatopoeia | the use of words whose sounds echo their meaning ex. boom, pow, crack |
| Oxymoron | a combination of contradictory words that have opposite or very different meanings. ex. accidently on purpose, authenticity. |
| Personification | the giving of human qualities to an animal, object or idea ex. Mickey Mouse, Bugs bunny |
| Plot | the scenes or events in a story ex. story elements |
