What is an experimental group? A group of people, things exposed to the variable.
What is a control group? A group that does not receive the variable.
What is the basic unit of length in the metric system? Meter
What is a physical change? When the properties do not change in a substance.
What is a chemical reaction? When one or more substances are changed into others.
What is the phase in which matter keeps its own shape? Solid
What consists of an atom's mass? Protons and neutrons
What is a compound? 2 or more elements, chemically combined.
What is a mixture? 2 or more elements, physically combined.
What is a solution? A mixture in which, the particles of one substance are evenly mixed with the particles of another.
What is gravitational potential energy? Energy stored by objects above the ground.
What is kinetic energy? Energy of motion.
What is potential energy? Stored energy.
What is nuclear fission? Energy released when an atom splits.
What is nuclear fusion? Atoms joining together to make one atom.
When an ice cube melts, what happens to its molecules? Molecules absorb heat energy and move further apart.
How many atoms are found in the compound C6H12O6? 6 atoms of carbon, 12 atoms of hydrogen, and 6 atoms of oxgyen.
What is refraction? A change in the direction of a wave due to speed.
A boy rides his bike up a hill at a constant speed. As the boy travels up the hill, how does his gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy change? Gravitational potential energy increases and the kinetic energy stays the same.
How are fission and fusion similiar? They both convert mass to energy.
Describe the energy transfer taking place while using a blowdryer? Electrical to mechanical to heat energy.
