Energy Resources

Renewable an energy resource that is replenished (replaced) in a reasonable amount of time.
Nonrenewable an energy resource that is not replenished (replaced) in a reasonable amount of time.
Natural Resource a resource that exist without any actions of humankind.
Coal A NONRENEWABLE fossil fuel resource used to make electricity
Oil (Petroleum) A NONRENEWABLE fossil fuel resource used to make electricity
Natural Gas A NONRENEWABLE fossil fuel resource used to make electricity
Fossil Fuels The energy-rich substances formed from the remains of once living plants and animals.
Nuclear Energy A NONRENEWABLE fossil fuel resource used to make electricity
Solar Energy RENEWABLE energy from the sun that is converted into electricity in solar cells.
Hydroelectric Energy (tidal energy) RENEWABLE electricity produced by flowing water turning a turbine.
Wind Energy RENEWABLE electricity produced by moving air (wind) turning a turbine.
Biomass Fuels RENEWABLE electricity produced by direct combustion in a boiler to produce high-pressure steam used to turn a turbine.
Geothermal Energy RENEWABLE electricity that used the heat from the underground to produce steam to turn a turbine.
Alternative Energy Resources another term to represent renewable energy resources (alternative meaning different).
Urbanization the movement of the population into towns and cities, away from the land
Greenhouse Effect a process that occurs when gases in Earth's atmosphere trap the Sun's heat.
Global Warming a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide
Carbon Dioxide Gas the main greenhouse gas caused by the burning of fossil fuels.
