absolute monarchy a king or queen with all the power; ruled by one person
autocracy a system of government by one person with absolute power
constitutional monarchy system of government in which a monarch shares power with a constitutionally organized government (i.e. the monarch's powers are limited by a constitution)
parliamentary democracy democratic form of government where the party with the greatest representation in the parliament (legislature) forms the government, its leader becoming prime minister
presidential democracy form of democracy in which a head of government (president) leads an executive branch that is separate from the legislative branch
Prime Minister the head of the cabinet and leader of the ministers in the executive branch of government in a parliamentary system
dictatorship form of government where absolute power is concentrated in the hands of a leader who has control over all of his subjects
democracy a form of government where the people have the most freedom; they vote for their leaders
