absolute monarchy | a king or queen with all the power; ruled by one person |
autocracy | a system of government by one person with absolute power |
constitutional monarchy | system of government in which a monarch shares power with a constitutionally organized government (i.e. the monarch's powers are limited by a constitution) |
parliamentary democracy | democratic form of government where the party with the greatest representation in the parliament (legislature) forms the government, its leader becoming prime minister |
presidential democracy | form of democracy in which a head of government (president) leads an executive branch that is separate from the legislative branch |
Prime Minister | the head of the cabinet and leader of the ministers in the executive branch of government in a parliamentary system |
dictatorship | form of government where absolute power is concentrated in the hands of a leader who has control over all of his subjects |
democracy | a form of government where the people have the most freedom; they vote for their leaders |
