Goiter Enlargement of the thyroid gland
Tablet The solid dosage form produced by compression and containing one or more active and inactive ingredient.
Absorption Passage of a substance through a membrane such as skin or mucosa, into blood
Co-Payment The amount that the patient is to pay for each prescription.
Bioequivalence A generic drug that delivers approximately the same of acitve ingredient into a healthy volunteers bloodstream in the same amount of time as the innovater or a brand name drug.
Clinical Pharmacology The science of drugs and their clinical use.
Contradiction Condition or factor that increases the risk involved in using a particular drug, carrying out a medical procedure.
Indication Reason to use a particular drug for a particular reason.
Medication Error Any preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropiate medication use or patient harm while the medication is in the control of the health care professional, patient, or consumer.
Nosocomial Infection An infection caused by a bacteria found in the hospital from any source that causes a patient to develop an infectious disease; also called healthcare-associated infection.
Ammenorrhea Absence of normal menustration
Suppository A solid formulation conatining a drug for rectal or vaginal administration
Sublingual Tablet Tablet designed to dissolve under the tongue
Suspension Medication in the form of undissolved particles dispersed in a liquid vehicle.
Troche Hard disk of a medication designed to dissolve in the mouth for local effect; similar to a lozenge
Elixir Clear, sweetened, flavored solution containing water and ethanol
Chewable Tablet A solid oral dosage form meant to be chewed;commonly prescribed for school aged children
Capsule The dosage form caontaining powder, liquid or granules in a gelatin covering.
Caplet Hybrid solid dosage formulation shaing characteristics of both a tablet and a capsule
Aerosol A pressurized container with propellant used to administer a drug through oral inhalation into the lungs.
