Cookies | A cookie is a small amount of data generated by a website and saved by your web browser. Its purpose is to remember information about you, similar to a preference file created by a software application. |
Geolocation | Geolocation refers to the identification of the geographic location of a user or computing device via a variety of data collection mechanisms. |
Metadata | Metadata describes other data. It provides information about a certain item's content. |
Data | Computer data is information processed or stored by a computer(images, audio clips, documents, software programs). |
Spreadsheet | A spreadsheet is a document that stores data in a grid of horizontal rows and vertical columns. |
Browser History | Web browsing history refers to the list of web pages a user has visited, as well as associated data such as page title and time of visit. |
Digital Literacy | Digital literacy means having the skills you need to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information is increasingly through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, and mobile devices. |
Blog | Short for "Web Log," this term refers to a list of journal entries posted on a Web page. |
Dossier | a collection of documents about a particular person, event, or subject. |
Derogatory | Information is negative and will likely hurt your ability to qualify for credit or other services. |
Social Networking | Social networking websites allow users to be part of a virtual community (Facebook & Myspace). |
Viral | It refers to a digital video, image, or article that has spiked in popularity and has reached a large number of users in a short period of time. |
Profile | A profile allows the user's settings to be restored when that user logs back into the computer, network, or service. |
Privacy Settings | Privacy settings allow a person to control what information is shared on these platforms. |
