How long does Iconic (visual) memory last up to? Echoic (Auditory)? Iconic: 1/2 of a second Echoic: 2-4 seconds
What are the types of explicit/declarative in long term memory? Semantic and Episodic
What are the types of implicit/non declarative in long term memory? Procedural, classical conditioned, and priming
What does chunking do? It extends the capacity in short term memory
Decay VS Interference? Decay: use it or lose it/ memory is stored in form of neural connections Interference: competing memories/ retroactive and proactive interference
Retroactive VS Proactive Interference? Retro: new info makes you forget old info Pro: old info interferes with your ability to remember new info
