IDT digital footprint vocabulary

Digital Footprint the information about a particular person that exists on the internet as a result of their online activity.
Cookies text files with small pieces of data — like a username and password — that are used to identify your computer as you use a computer network
Geo Location A process that uses an Internet user's IP address to determine their location
Meta Data a set of data that describes and gives information about other data.
Data is the discrete, discontinuous representation of information or works.
Spreadsheet a software application that enables a user to save, sort and manage data in an arranged form of rows and columns.
Browser History the list of web pages a user has visited, as well as associated data such as page title and time of visit.
Digital Literacy an individual's ability to find, evaluate, and compose clear information through writing and other media on various digital platforms.
Blog is an online journal or informational website displaying information in reverse chronological order, with the latest posts appearing first, at the top
Dossier an aspect of life online that is common to all, yet many users may not even realize the amount of data they are responsible for.
Derogatory tending to lessen the merit or reputation of a person or thing
Social Networking is the use of Internet-based social media sites to stay connected with friends, family, colleagues, customers, or clients
Viral an image, video, advertisement, etc., that is circulated rapidly on the internet.
Profile is the sum content about a person on the Internet, can be composed of personal or professional information shared on public Web sites posted personally or by others.
Privacy Settings the part of a social networking website, internet browser, piece of software, etc. that allows you to control who sees information about you
