Cardiovascular Disease Metabolic Sydrome

TermDefinition
Cardiovascular disease a collective term used to refer to disorders of the circulatory system of the body.
Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) refers to narrowing of arteries by atherosclerotic plaques caused by hypercholesterolemia and coronary artery disease.
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) refers to the narrowing or obstruction of the arteries of the heart.
Angina Pectoris severe chest pain
Myocardial Infarction (MI) heart attack
Stroke cerebrovascular accident
Hypertension an increase in the pressure with which blood circulates through the arteries and veins.
Dysrhythmias abnormalities in the electrical conduction pathways of the heart that lead to inefficient pumping of blood
Peripheral Vascular Disease involves disorders of the blood vessels of the arms and legs.
Peripheral Arterial Disease disorders of the arteries in the arms or legs.
Heart Failure a progressive heart disease that affects the pumping actions of the heart muscles.
Insulin Resistance Syndrome when the body does not respond to insulin
Metabolic Syndrome a cluster of conditions that occur together increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and type type 2 diabetes.
Body Mass Index (BMI) weight in proportion to height.
