Comp quiz 2

QuestionAnswer
Define: Computed Radiography (CR) systems that use storage phosphors to temporarily store energy representing the image signal. The phosphor then undergoes a process to extract the latent image.
Define: Direct Radiography (DR) systems that have detectors that directly capture and readout an electronic image signal.
Dynamic Range: The range of exposures that may be captured by a detector
Receptor Exposure The amount of radiation that strikes the image receptor
Brightness the measurement of the luminance of an area in a radiographic image displayed on a monitor. It is calibrated in units of candela (cd) per square meter
Grey Scale The number of brightness levels (or grey shades) visible on the image and is related to Bit Depth of a system
Long Scale The total number of grey shades on an image is numerous and there are little differences between the greys
Short Scale Small number of grey shades present, with great differences between them
Spatial Resolution The sharpness of the structural edges recorded in the image
Exposure Latitude The range of exposures which produces quality images at appropriate patient dose.
Subject Contrast The magnitude of the signal difference in the remnant beam as a result of the different absorption characteristics of the tissues and structures making up that part.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
