| thermal energy | the energy that is generated and measured by heat |
| kinetic energy | the energy an object has due to its motion |
| heat | a form of energy arising from the random motion of molecules |
| conduction | the transfer of heat through matter by communication of kinetic energy from particle to particle |
| convection | movement in a gas or liquid in which the warmer parts move up and the cooler parts move down |
| radiation | energy that comes from a source and travels through air/space and may be able to penetrate various materials |
| renewable | a source of energy that is not depleted by use |
| solar power | power obtained by harnessing the energy of the sun's rays |
| turbine | a large wheel rotated to generate electricity |
| biomass | organic materials such as plants and organic wasted |
| geothermal | energy generated deep within the earth by using natural hotspots |
| hydropower | electricity generated from the energy of moving water |
| generate | produce energy, especially electricity |
| conductor | a material or device that transmits heat, electricity, or sound |
| resistor | a device designed to resist the passage of an electric current |
| drive-shaft | a rotating rod that transmits torque in an engine |
| rotor | the rotating piece in a turbine |
