Bioavailability The degree to which a drug or other substance becomes available to the target issue after administration
Biofeedback The use of electronic monitoring of an automatic bodily function to train someone to acquire voluntary control of that function
Drug utilization evaluation An authorized, structured, ongoing review of healthcare provider prescribing, pharmacist dispensing, and patient use of medication
MedMARx A national internet-accessible database that hospitals and healthcare systems use to track adverse drug reactions and medication errors
MedWatch A program established by the FDA for reporting drug and medical product safety alerts and label changes
Electronic medication administration record (E-MAR) A computer program that automatically documents the administration of medication into certified electronic health record (EHR) systems
Pharmacy benefit management (PBM) The development and management of broad and cost-efficient prescription drug benefits for a large group of patient populations
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists An association that advocates for patient safety and establishes best practices to improve medication use
Automated dispensing system (ADS) Electronic system used to dispense medications
Medication error Any preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropriate medication use or patient harm
