Term | Definition |

catalyst | A substance that speeds up a chemical reaction |
physical change | A type of change in which a new substance is NOT formed. It can be undone. For example: CHANGE of STATE, mixing, cutting |
chemical change | A type of change in which a new substance is formed. This CANNOT be undone. For example: burning something, and baking cookies |
oxidizer | A chemical that provides a lot of oxygen to help things burn. |
hydrogen | A flammable gas less dense than air that has no color or smell. |
carbon dioxide | An odorless, colorless gas that puts out fire |
Evidence of a chemical change | 1. Gases released as bubbles or foam 2. Odor released 3. Gives of light and heat or takes in hea 4. Spontaneous change in color 5. Changes cannot be undone |
