Text structure How a text - or part of a text - is organized. Examples: compare/contrast, cause/effect, definition, sequence.
Main idea The author's point in a particular section of a text
Supporting detail All of the facts and examples the author uses to illustrate his or her main idea
Central Idea The author's point throughout the course of a text.
