plagiarism copying someone's words without giving them credit
secondary source interpretations, explanations, and comments on material from other sources, such as encyclopedias and magazines
paraphrase expressing information in your own words
primary source first hand information, such as diaries and interviews
thesis statement one sentence that tells the main idea or purpose of the report
