Over 250 million years ago all the continents were connected that was known as Pangea
Over time the continents broke apart and moved what was it called. convection currents
The earths plates float on what? semi-molten magma
As a result plates ____, _______or______ ____ one another. separate, collide and slide past one another .
the structure of the earth? e.g name the parts of it. crust, mantel , outer core, inner core
what happens when plates collide the crust is destroyed. the heavier oceanic plate is forced under the lighter continental plate and down into the hot molten below.
what happens when plates separate magma wells up to fill the space between, the magma cools and becomes solid.
what happens when pates slide past their edges sometimes become locked and the edges of the plate may snap or jolt forward
explain convection currents As magma rises , it then begins to cool. as a result the magma gets heavier and sinks back to the core. this repeats . these cause the plates to move very slowly.
Name the different types and places where plates are. slide past -N-American plate and Pacific plate . separate -S- American plate and African plate . Collide Eurasian plate-Pacific plate .
