Geography Theme of Location

In order to find the exact distance from one place to another on a map you would use a: Map Scale
The number of degrees east or west from the prime meridian is called: Longitude
The number of degrees north or south from the equator is called: Latitude
If someone wants to figure out what the symbols on a map mean they would look at the: Map Key
The type of map that shows the boundaries of states and counties is a: Political map
The type of map that shows elevation is called a: Physical Map
If I wanted to figure out a route for a trip I am going to take I would use what kind of map? Road Map
If I wanted to know how far north or south I was I would use Latitude
If I wanted to know how far east or west I was I would use Longitude
North, South, East, and West are called The Cardinal Directions
The cardinal directions would located on a map as a: Compass Rose
The lines that start and end at the poles are called Lines of longitude or meridians
The lines that circle the globe starting at the center are called Lines of latitude or parallels
If I wanted to see where mountains and lakes were in the United states I would look at this type of map: Physical Map
If I wanted to find the capitals of different countries I would look at this type of map: Political Map
What are the 8 cardinal directions? North, Northwest, North East, East, West, South, South West, South East
Longitude and latitude are measured in Degrees
Longitude and Latitude are examples of what kind of location? Absolute
"The School is next to the cornfield" is an example of what kind of location? Relative
