Geography the physical study of Earth and its atmosphere, along with human activity and how it is affected by and affects geography
hemisphere half of the Earth
equator an imaginary line that runs east and west across Earth that divides the Earth into the northern and southern hemispheres
prime meridian the imaginary line that runs north and south on Earth that divides the Earth into the eastern and western hemisphere
absolute location a place's exact location which usually includes its longitude and latitude
relative location telling the location of one place based on the location of another place
coordinate grid a system on a map that allows the location of a point to be described in a way that is meaningful and understandable
latitude imaginary lines that run east and west across the Earth and measure the distance north and south of the equator
longitude imaginary lines that run north and south from pole to pole and measure distances east and west of the Prime Meridian
physical map a map that shows the physical or natural features of an area
political map a map that shows the borders and boundaries of countries, states, counties, location of major cities, and major bodies of water
rotate Earth spins making day and night
revolution the Earth travels in a circle around the Sun
compass a tool that helps tell directions
intermediate directions the in-between directions - NE, SE, NW,SW
cardinal directions the four main directions - N, S, E, W
continent largest areas of land in the world
