Proton Positively charged subatomic particle with a mass of 1 a.m.u.
Neutron Particle with a mass of 1 a.m.u. and no charge that adds mass and helps hold nucleus together
Electron Negatively charged subatomic particle that is found outside of the nucleus
Quarks Fundamental particles from which Protons and Neutrons are made
Atomic number The number of protons in an atom
Chemical reactivity Determined by the number and arrangement of electrons
Mass number The number of protons and neutrons in an atom
