Classification of Matter

Pure substance Material with fixed composition that can't be physically reduced
Mixture Two or more substances physically added together that can be physically separated
Element A substance that can be reduced to a single atom and still have all of its properties
Compound Two or more substances chemically combined with unique properties that are different from its components
Heterogeneous Mixture A mixture that is not uniform throughout
Homogenous Mixture A mixture that is uniform
Solution A homogeneous mixture
Alloy A solution (homogeneous mixture) of metals
