| refraction | the bending of light waves as they travel from one surface to another |
| lens | a curved piece of glass that bends light rays |
| convex lens | a lens that is thicker in the center and thinner at the edges, a shape that bends light inward |
| concave lens | a lens that is thinner in the center and thicker at the edges, a shape that bends light outward |
| medium | any substance through which light waves can travel |
| prism | a special piece of glass, crystal, or plastic that bends light rays |
| transmit | to pass through a substance or object |
| absorb | to take in |
| light | travels in straight lines |
| reflect | light bounces off |
| refract | light bends as it travels through |
| concave | outward light |
| convex | inward light |
| force | push or pull |
| visible | able to be seen |
| clings | to stick onto or hold onto something tightly |
